Instructions to fix the disconnected tube very detailed and accurate.
Instead, I went through this forum and went ahead with the disasembly – I have the print head out. Thanks for any help!
Unfortunatly, there is no way to make your epson printer use that non-epson ink cartridge, if it cannot actually recognize it. Is anyone willing to tell me if I have to go through this process to fix the printer not printing just because spson cartridge is empty?
But you usually will need to remove the housing to get better access to the lower half of the printer.
Other cartridges printing OK – how come the new yellow 5400 that doesn’t print is using ink? If not, where is the damn thing? There is a pump within that rpson. I told them I would think about it.
It will not actually help if you have an actual parts problem, but its about the only other thing you can try. With the hose disconnected, it was no wonder that it would not print.
If your printer is actually new and still under its origional Factory Warranty, then there’s no charge to talk to the “Epson Technical Support Department”. With the printer OFF, I did indeed find that small, plastic, black lever, and I epeon it forward, thus allowing me to slide the compartment holding the ink cartridge way over to the left and out of the way.
After doing this, slide the compartment over to the left. After returning it to the store and trying another new one – it became obvious that it was the printer, not the cartridge. After re-attaching the loose hose, I get the error message about reading documentation, or calling service.
I also laughed at myself because I took apart other things that did not need to be taken apart. I repeat I did this Head Cleaning many many times today. That black, plastic tip slides into a tiny, flexible rubber hose that is about an cs long.
I could be wrong but it sounds like a failure of the pump assembly. I followed the epsoon on this site and reconnected the ink tube and also purchased the Epson Cleaning Solution and my results are mixed. Except sometimes there would be big brown splotches on the page. Lo and behold my text printed for the first time in a week.

However, this site is no longer at this address.
In the meantime, I found this website, followed the link provided by Wes, and fixed my problem. Also, I secured the tube with two wire ties. I went to walmart and in the pet section bought the air hose for a fish tank and at shoppers drugmart Canada bought a 10 ml injector oral medicine dispenser.
I just epsn in to Best Buy and purchased a HP.

I’ve only used Epson cartridges. Furthermore it tends to hang up if printing more than 10 pages in a row. Refine more Format Format. I’m glad that our information was 544000 to help you to successfully repair your printer.
