Center channel does not produce speaker works. Realtek alc sound problems. Everything seems ok, when I check device manager and sound options.

I’ll try compiling alsa and soundcards as modules instead of directly into the kernel. Now, though, I have a digital camera at my disposal.
It also upmixes the sound to 5. I have the same issue and have scoured the internet for a week trying to get this resolved. A tips is to have the speaker alc8500 enabled as one plays with the mixer settings.
No sound with Realtek ALC
But sound from the web is only using the front two speakers, no sub. With “Duplicate front” I was able to get stereosound from the front speakers. When i try to run Insane 2 in2ane and Lord of the rings War in the north on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 I hear no sound from the mentioned sound codec.
Ah, one more rather important screen output: You should then be able to test via a LiveCD. If I deselect that, it sounds crappy like everything else.
All the really important stuff was on disc one though, right? Looks like Realtek may have dropped support for the older AC’97 based coedcs, but the one they have avaiable here, Realtek is somewhat newer than the last Vista driver that Asus has available for it but 2 years or so.
