I tried with the function “print test page” directly from cups admin. When trying to print CUPS reports the state of the job as “completed at timesign “, even though the printer does nothing. The problem seemed to be that the drivers from Brother is not 64bit compatible, and I was using a 64bit version of Ubuntu. Maybe this helps though. No success with the USB cable, but that’s not an issue for me. I haven’t tried it with the Ptouch driver but I wouldn’t be surprised if it had problems.
